Olympic Fever

It's that time again.  It happens every four years and is never enough.  They try to satiate our appetite for it with some cold weather sports in between and, although we watch, it isn't quite what we are craving.

Don't misinterpret this as saying that those athletes flying down the Super G course at 80mph or landing a triple axle isn't impressive (because it most definitely is); it's just not the same.

The Summer Olympics is where we see the fastest and strongest duke it out in front of the world.  It's sports most people can relate to or have participated in at some point in their life and can understand the totally different level of human athleticism they are watching.

Every Olympics, records are shattered and thought of as unbreakable, only to be slashed again 4 years later.  It's exciting and inspiring!

If you weren't a swimmer, some part of you wants to get in the water and try after watching the Men's 4x200m relay. Something makes you want to get up and run after watching Usain Bolt high step it to the finish of the 100m dash.  Or maybe it's watching Bradley Wiggins win the Time Trial (after winning the Tour de France two weeks prior) that sparks your desire to get back to cycling.  Whatever it is that gives you that get-up-and-go, we say do it, because It's never too late to get active!

That's what's great about the Olympics.  Not only are we watching the best, but it lights that fire inside all of us to get after it.

Speaking of the Olympics, check out the article from NBC Online about "How to Train Like an Olympic Athlete" featuring Adam, our General Manager, discussing the benefits of indoor cycling.
